Tildenville Elementary School Dual Language Magnet Program Named National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America

February 28, 2017

Tildenville Elementary School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.

The Dual Language Program at Tildenville Elementary began in 2001. Our students are working toward being academically bilingual in Spanish and English. Our staff, parents and community all work hard to support our students in this endeavor. Once students complete the program at Tildenville they have the opportunity to continue their education at Lakeview Middle School where they can earn their high school and AP College credits in Spanish.

Presentation of Distinction Award:

Agathe Alvarez will be recognized and receive a National Magnet School of Distinction Merit Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s 36th National Conference hosted by Chicago Public Schools in Chicago, Illinois April 25-29, 2018.

To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.
